Privacy Policy
Your timer settings, task list, and session history are stored in your browser using local storage and are never sent to this site. There are no accounts and no ads. Google Analytics 4 is used to measure aggregate traffic across the site. Last updated 11 September 2026.
What stays in your browser
Three kinds of data are saved on your own device, in your browser’s local storage, under this site’s address:
- Your timer settings: focus, short break and long break lengths, how often the long break falls, the auto-start toggles, alarm sound, volume, theme.
- Your task list: whatever you typed, the pomodoro estimates, and which items you marked done.
- Your session history: a record for each finished interval with its start time, end time, mode, and planned length. The stats panel and your streak are calculated from these.
None of this is transmitted anywhere. There is no server that could receive it, because the site is static files with no backend. It lives on one device in one browser, which is also why your numbers do not follow you from a laptop to a phone.
Clearing your browser’s site data for this domain deletes all of it permanently. The timer also has a clear-history button if you only want the session records gone.
What Google Analytics measures
The site runs Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which pages people use. It tells me that the 25-minute timer page gets read and the stopwatch page does not, which is how I decide what to improve.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise a returning visit and to group page views into a session. It records things like the page you are on, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, and an approximate location.
On location: Google’s documentation states that Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses. IP data is used to work out a coarse location, such as city and country, and for traffic from the EU, Switzerland and the UK the IP address is dropped before the data is logged, with the lookup performed on servers in those regions. Google’s current policies on this are on their Analytics Help pages.
What Analytics never sees is anything you type into the timer. Task names, session records and settings are not collected, not passed to any script, and not part of any event sent to Google.
Opting out
A few options, in rough order of effort:
- Install Google’s own browser add-on to opt out of Analytics, which blocks the measurement script on every site you visit.
- Block cookies for this site, or block third-party scripts, in your browser’s privacy settings. Most browsers have a tracking-prevention setting that already does this.
- Use a content blocker or a browser with one built in.
The timer works normally with Analytics blocked. Nothing on the site depends on it.
What the site does not do
No ads and no ad networks. No accounts, sign-ups, or email collection. No affiliate links. No data sold or shared with anyone, because none is collected beyond what Google Analytics gathers. No content from third-party sites loaded into these pages.
Children
The site is a general-purpose timer, is not aimed at children under 13, and asks for no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it and the change is described here rather than quietly applied.

Does this pomodoro timer collect my data?
Your tasks, settings and history are stored in your browser and never sent here. Google Analytics collects aggregate traffic data, meaning page views, referrers, device type and approximate location, using cookies. What you type into the timer is not part of that and never leaves your device.
Where exactly are my tasks and stats stored?
In your browser’s local storage, on the device you are using, tied to this site’s domain. They survive closing the tab and restarting the computer, but not clearing site data, and they do not exist on any server. A different browser or a private window will show an empty timer.
How do I delete everything the site has stored?
Use the clear-history button in the stats panel to remove session records, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings to remove everything at once, including tasks and settings. Both are immediate and permanent, and there is no copy anywhere else to recover from.
Can I use the timer with cookies blocked?
Yes. Blocking cookies stops Google Analytics and changes nothing about the timer. Local storage is separate from cookies, so your settings and history still save. Blocking all site storage will make the timer forget your settings between visits, but it will still count down correctly.
Is there a cookie banner?
No. The only cookies set are Google Analytics measurement cookies, and the opt-out options above are listed here rather than behind a pop-up. If you would rather not be counted, the Google opt-out add-on or your browser’s tracking protection handles it on every site at once.
