This is a one-minute countdown. Click start and it runs from 60 seconds to zero, then rings. Switch to another tab and it stays accurate, because it counts toward a fixed end time instead of ticking. There is nothing to install and no account to make.

A minute is long enough to be uncomfortable and short enough that nobody argues with it. That combination is why it turns up in plank holds, elevator pitches, and the rule that says a job under a minute should just be done. As a focus block it is useless. As a starting gun it works surprisingly well: one minute of the thing you are avoiding usually gets you past the part that was hard, and you are still going when the alarm sounds.

How accurate is a 1 minute timer in a browser?

Accurate to a fraction of a second. The timer records the exact moment the minute ends and compares it against your system clock, so it cannot drift the way a script that counts ticks does. Leaving the tab, locking the screen, or waiting with the window minimised all make no difference.

Can one minute be a pomodoro?

No. A pomodoro is a block of protected work, and a minute is gone before you have opened the file. What a one-minute timer is good for is starting: agree to do sixty seconds of the task you are dodging, and you will usually keep going once it rings.

Will the alarm sound if my phone screen is off?

On a desktop the alarm fires reliably as long as the browser is open. Phones are less dependable, since mobile browsers suspend tabs when the screen locks and may hold the sound until you unlock. For a one-minute timer on a phone, just watch the countdown.
